Birdfriends
In the field

Warren is a benchmark ornithologist, always at the service of others - he is also passionate. Its BirdFriends Perù association protects hummingbird sanctuaries, reserves where all kinds of birds, amphibians and reptiles are also nesting ... all of them are an integral and useful part of our biodiversity. We invite you to browse the photo album of the association which presents its team and allows you to understand its work in nature, and its observation trips to discover hummingbirds, birds and other natural wonders. As an ornithological expert, soon qualified for amphibians, Warren helps other associations.

BirdFriends Perú has become a benchmark.  The association has been able to use its expertise to reflect on a more ethical, united and virtuous tourism oriented towards ecotourism. This pedagogy  Every day, this desire to share and this experience have been put to the service of Tarapoto Explorations which offers to travel differently and in a more informative way, in the Region of San Martin, in Tarapoto, in the North of Peru.

About the  Hummingbirds

The male "spatula tail" hummingbird is unique among birds because it has only four tail feathers. The characteristic of the male is to have two long outer feathers in the shape of blue-purplish "spatulas" at the level of the tail, which can move independently.
The male uses these feathers to be noticed.
The feathers of this bird particularly inspire fashion designers and are highly rated with collectors of exotic birds.
In view of the constant loss of their habitat, their number is increasingly limited. In fact, this hummingbird is registered on the red list of threatened species of the IUCN (international union for the conservation of nature), as well as on the list of CITES (Convention on international trade in species of wild fauna and flora threatened with extinction). It is considered a species placed under high protection and is the proud symbol of the countryside in Tilacancha.
According to Warren, it is urgent to promote bird watching in order to involve the public authorities in the same process of protecting our biodiversity, to provide the appropriate aid to preserve habitats and to finance the costs of observing hummingbirds or birds. in general.

It is from this observation and on this basis that the idea was born of combining the useful with the pleasant, with the creation of #TarapotoExplorations.
More than tourism, a shared passion!
